Cross Country Coach Erica Turner
Coach Turner graduated from Algonac High School in Algonac, Michigan as a 4 year letter winner in Cross Country in 1998. During her career at Algonac, she earned Honorable Mention All-Blue Water Area, had Second-Team All-League honors, competed in the Michigan State Cross Country meet twice and was named Academic All-State as a senior.
After high school, Coach Turner attended and graduated from Central Michigan University in 2004 with a Bachelors of Science in Special Education and from Marygrove College in 2010 with a Master’s in the Art of Teaching. She was subsequently hired to teach in the Resource Room at Sidney Middle School in 2004.
Coach Turner began coaching Cross Country six years ago with Sidney's Boy's and Girl's Middle School teams. They had an extremely successful year with the Boy's team winning the Greater Western Ohio Conference Championship and two runners continuing on to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Rhode Island.
This is Coach Turner's fifth year as the Head Varsity and Junior Varsity Coach for the Boy's and Girl's Cross Country Teams at Sidney High School. During her time with the high school runners, she has coached the school record holder in the boy’s division (15:32) and took him to the Ohio State Cross Country Championships twice where he placed fourteenth his Junior year, and fifth his Senior year. Coach Turner's goals for this year are to improve the team’s competitiveness in the GWOC and the overall speed and dynamics of her runners. |

The Cross Country teams competed in the Bob Schul Invite at Milton Union. The girl's team placed 14th of 18 overall with Heather West finishing just 42 seconds shy of the 13 year old girl's school record. She placed 19th in 21:15 with Taylor Heffner coming in next in 79th place with 25:25. Valerie Cook placed 103rd overall in 27:23, Danielle Cooper placed 118th and Mikell Stevens was 119th both in 30:19. Excellent performance ladies!!! |

24, 2009 - DISTRICT TOURNAMENT
Despite the wind, very cold temperatures and a extremely muddy
course, the runners put out their best efforts and ran great
races. In the girl's race Courtney Morris led the Yellow Jackets
with a 31st place finish in a time of 24:35, Alexandra Ordway
was 33rd with 25:06 and Taylor Heffner was 38th with 26:02.
The ladies ran tough races and had a great season! Congratulations
to each of you.
October 17, 2009 - Greater
Western Ohio Conference Championships
Leading the Yellow Jacket's on the girl's team was Courtney
Morris, placing 8th and earning Second Team, All-Conference
Honors with a time of 22:52. Alexandra Ordway came in 17th
with 24:58, Taylor Heffner was 24th with 26:37 and Valerie
Cook placed 25th with 26:58. Outstanding race, ladies!
October 10, 2009 - Centerville
Stampede
On the Girl's team Courtney Morris led the team and finished
82nd with 23.42.35, Alexandra Ordway was 109th with 25:29.11
and Taylor Heffner was 111th with 26:04.54. Way to go girls!

On the girl's team, Courtney Morris finished 27th with 22:40,
Alexandra Ordway was 68th with 24:39, Valerie Cook was 113th
with 27:13 and Allison Blair was 123rd with 28:08. Great work
ladies!

Invitational
Sidney 6th
The girl's team finished 6th overall with an average team
time of 25:15. Courtney Morris led the way by finishing 8th
overall (and 7th in team scoring) and earned a ribbon in a
personal best for the year of 21:56! Alexandra Ordway finished
23rd overall, also running a personal best for the year at
24:12. Taylor Heffner was 30th with 24:38, Allison Blair was
44th in another personal best time of the year with 27:30,
and Valerie Cook was 48th with 28:00. Great efforts by all
the ladies!
September 19, 2009 - Graham
Invitational
On the girl's team Courtney Morris came in 29th with 22:50,
Alexandra Ordway was 72nd with 25:40, Taylor Heffner was 93rd
with 27:22. Way to go ladies!

Invite
On the Girl's team Courtney Morris finished 39th with 23:09,
Valerie Cook was 108th with 27:06, Allison Blair was 128th
with 28:31 and Taylor Heffner was 129th with 28:33.

Skyhawks Invitational
Courtney Morris had an impressive 15th place finish with a
time of 23:56! Following Courtney was Taylor Heffner in 51st
with 26:48 and Valerie Cook in 63rd with 27:48. Great job
ladies!
September 5, 2009 - Treaty
City Invitational
This is the second largest cross country invitational in the
state of Ohio. In the girl's race Courtney Morris finished
94th for the Lady Jackets in a time of 23:27. Valerie Cook
finished next in 144th place with 26:10 and Allison Blair
was 149th with 28:39. Way to go girls!
September 1, 2009 - Shelby
County Preview
Courtney Morris earned a ribbon with a 15th place finish in
a time of 23:29, Taylor Heffner finished 32nd in 25:47, Valerie
Cook was 42nd in 27:06 and Allison Blair was 50th with a time

Finishing 21st and earning a ribbon on the girl's team was

Sidney 8th at 217
On Saturday, October 18th, Sidney High School Boy's and Girl's
Cross Country teams competed in the Southwest Ohio District
Tournament at Miami Valley Career Technical Center. Both races
proved to be the best race performance for the year with each
team averaging their best team time. The Girls Team finished
8th overall with an average team time of 22:54. Courtney Morris
lead the team taking 33rd in a time of 21:46. Alexandra Ordway
finished 43rd in 22:50, Virginia Mummey in 44th with 22:51,
Jessica Hand in 45th with 23:01, Allison Blair in 52nd with
24:03, Valerie Cook in 60th and Morgan Seving in 61st, both

Sidney 23rd at 183
Congratulations to the Sidney Cross Country Teams for an outstanding
performance at the Greenville City Invitational this past
Saturday. The Greenville Invitational is the second largest
cross country invite in the state of Ohio with 3,000 runners
who compete.
The girls Team placed 23rd
with an average team time of 25:08. There were 183 runners
in our race and leading the Yellow Jackets was Courtney Morris
in 98th place with a time of 22:46, Virginia Mummey 150th
with 24:10, Allison Blair 158th with 24:46, Jessica Hand 168th
with 26:25, Valerie Cook 176th with 27:24. Outstanding job!
